Teacher Training

Discover STEAM offers the following professional development opportunities:  

(1) Training on science equipment that can be borrowed through Discover STEAM's equipment loaning program. Equipment use can be for classroom demonstrations, science fair projects or other independent student research.​

(2) Professional development workshops focused on specific STEAM topics, with Next Generation Science Standards and deep learning strategies for student exploration into those subjects.
 
(3) Our most comprehensive training opportunity is our Sustainable STEM Program, which has three components: 

       (1) Discover STEAM designs hands-on STEAM learning curriculum for your                             institution.
 
      (2) Discover STEAM teachers pilot this novel curriculum directly to one or more                     classes at your institute. During this time our staff also provide professional                       development training for your teachers in this same curriculum. Your teachers                 will get to see our deep learning techniques modeled in the classroom and in                   professional development sessions teachers will exercise strategies for                             implementing and evolving the curriculum independently of Discover STEAM in               subsequent years. 
 
     (3) Your institute can purchase the necessary equipment from Discover STEAM to                repeat the curriculum in subsequent years (eg. classroom sets of robots, if it                      applies to that curriculum).  Additionally, teachers who underwent the                                professional development training for that curriculum, are eligible to use our                    equipment loaning program.
