Workshops & Courses

Discover STEAM (DSI) provides engaging curricula to students 3 to 19 years old, with hands-on learning experiences in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) fields. Several of our workshops provide students access to advanced scientific equipment used in the pursuit of their investigations. We pride ourselves on being able to present complex concepts in easy to understand ways and in providing hands-on, deep-learning experiences for kids. Our workshops and classes are designed to promote discussion and discovery among participants. A sampling is shown below.

DSI offers classes open to the public at several locations:

​

(1)  DSI sponsors The Kid's STEMology Club,  please contact us if you are interested in joining.  Our former meeting place, The Maker Space at Rockville Memorial Library in MD,  has temporarily closed. We now meet at various locations for classes and workshops for pre K - 12th grade students.

(2) Our most recent site for Camps and Classes is Farmland Elementary School. We are bringing 3D printing (Mondays) and Robotics (Wednesdays) to Farmland ES, at 4-5pm this spring! We will also be offering 6 hr, 1-Day camps on MCPS school days off. For more information and to register click here.

(3)  Discover STEAM has a community partnership with VisArts in Rockville, MD, will are offering two 7 week long classes, Art in STEM: Electrify your Art, in January and March, 2024.

(4)  Discover STEAM has a community partnership with Montgomery County Public Library (MCPL). Watch for our teen Forensics weeks this summer, 2024!  Register through MCPL for these 'free to the public' engagements the weeks of July 8th, 15th, 29th and August 5th. (Registration for these workshops will take place through MCPL, we will add links here when they become available)

(5) Discover STEAM has a community partnership with Croydon Creek Nature Center, we are running two 1 week-long STEM summer camps at their location. On June 24th - 28th Engineering camp for 8- 10 yr olds and July 15th - 19th Scientist in Nature camp for 10 - 13 yr olds. (We apologize, these camps are sold out!)

(6) Homeschool students can register for year long,  in-person classes with our Kid's STEMology program here.  We are offering Math, Technology, and Science classes on Tuesdays for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
